Business as usual

First Monday after vacay and wine is switched out with my computer, the summer dress with a suit and the bare feet with heels. And even though it has been very nice unwinding, I am happy to be back, seeing as so many exciting things are ahead! First off a five days trip to Northern England that I need to get in order before take-off on Friday. And of course everything else related to work and will see if I cant squeeze in some exercise into this weeks schedule too.

Time to say goodbye

It is time to say goodbye to long days walking barefoot, jumping into the cold water, napping during the day, reading page after page, eating way too much, taking trips into the cutest little summer town, drinking red wine, watching the view and go for long walks. Enjoying the warmth of the sun, the raindrops and the wind. Goodbye to a perfect end to this years summer.

It has been such a relaxing week, but now I am ready to get back to work. In just five short days already I am off to Northern England with three Scandinavian influencers!

Dancing barefoot through the last bits of summer

There is no Wifi, almost no connection. So I learn to put my phone away, unplug my computer. Instead I look out on the beautiful water. Hear the waves beating up against the shore, feel the wind grab my hair and a light breeze brush against my skin. Trying to absorb all the beauty the place has to offer, the place that has a deep space in my heart.

I take off my shoes and walk barefoot over the rocks. Feeling the light autumn chill, realising I am dancing to the last bits of summer. And there is nothing more magical then being in the moment right there.

Sunday bubble

I sit down, watch the rain pouring down outside. Hear it hitting the wall, the window and the grass, followed by a little rumble in the distance. It creates a stillness in the room, a stillness that is fastly overclouded by my thoughts.

Who am I? What does my future hold? What do I want to do with my life ?

I have been a little thoughtful lately, unsure of what I want to do with my life, where I want to live and who I want to be. I am the biggest planner there is, so not knowing, just going with the flow as my mom says, it not really my thing. So, naturally my head is spinning.

For the last few years, I let my baby project Best of You define me and occupy me, but when I suddenly felt it was time to move on I closed down a part of myself at the same time. If that makes sense.. Leaving me a little unsure of what my purpose is.

I try to just go with the flow, do what feels good and trust that whatever is supposed to happen happens. And that everything will solve itself eventually, if I just allow myself to be open for possibilities and changes, but it is hard.

Guess getting out of my own head would a good way to start.

Back home

Being back home this weekend, attending a funeral, celebrating an engagement, sharing my comfort for yet another loss and spending time with my family has been both tiresome and nice. A mixed weekend, combined with lots of tears and laughter.

After the funeral on Friday, which was a beautiful one, I met with my two besties. Celebrating an engagement, and talking about a loss in the family. My two besties, going through each their thing, us three all gathered around one table, crying, talking, laughing. Life, such a weird thing sometimes.

My squad, after 24 years.

Yesterday was spent with my nephews and older sister, followed by coffee and “fika” with my dad, before pizza and wine with my mom. A real family day, before I am headed off to the airport and flying off to vacation. A much needed one.

Red wine, laughter and great colleagues should be mandatory

Have a feeling yesterday was the last sunny evening in a while here in Stockholm. So I am so glad a little gang from work went to Strandbryggan for an after work. Was also a great way for me to avoid packing for Oslo and a week at our summerhouse. Seriously, I cant handle packing, it is horrible. So a fun night with great colleagues, a glass of red wine, laughter and some sun did good. Should be mandatory at least once a week if you ask me!

I am off to Oslo tonight to attend a funeral and spend some time with my family, and on Sunday I am meeting Johan and Mikaela at the airport, heading off to our summerhouse. Cant wait to spend a week by the sea. Backed tons of reading material and comfy clothes. Now I just need to get safely from Sthlm to Oslo, (crossing my fingers for no turbulence or other shit)!

A little attitude on a grey Tuesday

I woke up early this morning to the roaring sound of thunder. One time, two times, three times. Getting closer each time. I was lying in bed, waiting for the rain to strike against the window. And eventually it did. Such a soothing sound.

I had to get up eventually though and just to say f**k you too the grey weather and keep my energy level up, I took on one of my red suits, my red shoes, added some pearls to my hair and for the first time ever switched out the blouse with a t-shirt with the quote: “Girls run the world”. Combined with my Grl Pwr necklace I was ready to get to work. A little attitude on a grey day gets you a long way.

Been a good day, an effective one. Now on the other hand, I am lying here, trying to find the motivation to get to SATS, wash clothes, get my suitcase from the attic AND make dinner.. Think I even need to get some groceries, since I need to make a vegan dinner. Well, lets just say the t-shirt isn’t motivating me anymore...

Guess a little attitude only gets you so far ;)

My week: engagement, funerals and going vegan

This week’s mantra
I have been reminded of both the good and the bad life has to offer this week and it made me realise that Life does not have to be perfect to be wonderful”. I just try to enjoy the little things.

This week’s mood
A little combination of everything; happy, sad, worried, tired. Been a weird week to be honest, so been nice to be by myself and just recharge. Spent 4 hours alone, drinking my morning coffee in the company of a good book earlier, which was wonderful.

This week’s yumminess
I have for a long time been thinking about giving the whole vegan thing a try. Not just 70 percent, but go in 100 percent. I started four days ago and so far so good. The best dish this week (except my vegan cookies bought at Goodstore) must have been the avocado toast at Café Pascal . And my morning smoothies! Can’t get enough.

This week’s series
The last few days I switched out watching series with reading and I managed to get through my latest book: Nullpunktet by Jørn Lier Horst. Really recommend it, couldn’t put it away! Now I am getting started on a crime series by Stefan Ahnmen that I got for my birthday last year. Anyone who has read them?

This week’s best
Without doubt the news about my bestie getting engaged. I was so damn happy and filled with love, seriously the best news at the beginning of a new week! You can read all about it here! Other than that I had a lovely few hours on Saturday morning with my book and a good cup of coffee down by the water, attended a Pride event with the British Embassy an had a girls night with Trixie yesterday with dinner, red wine and a movie!

This week’s worst
Two phone calls about two wonderful people having left us. So terribly sad, especially when my best friend cries on the phone and I can’t just go over and hug here. The distance is killing me sometimes. Going home for a funeral next week though, will be good to be home.

This week’s training
Ooooh… not good. Got in three long power walks and just one gym session. Well, blaming my soar throat. Want to say next week I am back in the game, but said that last Sunday too, so will just shut up and see what happens. The Workout Plan Studio needs to kick start fall a bit earlier, so I can get my motivation back on!

This week’s failure
On Fridays we always eat pizza and since I am now trying to be vegan the big challenge of giving up cheese arose. I had bought a vegan cheese the day before that seemed promising, but dear lord was that disgusting. Nevertheless, got some great advice on Instagram so will give it another go. Not really ready to give up pizza.

1 purse - 3 styles

When I plan an outfit, the handbag is always the finishing touch and most of my outfits don’t feel complete without it. And since I am not the type to have unlimited amounts of purses, I try to use what I have and avoid unnecessary shopping. Because you can do a lot with one handbag!

My absolute favorite is actually a 20 dollar handbag from Forever21 bought on Hawaii eight years ago (by my mom, who after a year gave it to me and I have been in love ever since). I love how the bright colour spices up my outfits and no matter the mood, its always my go-to bag!

Lets take a look on how to style one purse in three different ways.

I love how a simple pair of black boyfriend-jeans and an oversized blouse can turn into such a cool outfit by adding a pair of heels and a splash of colour. Orange is the new black, right? And by adding the purse, the defuse green strips in the blouse become more prominent. The perfect outfit for a day at the office.

When wearing a bright pink suit with black heals, most people would match it with a black clutch. Myself included a few years ago. But I think the orange makes the suit pop just a tiny bit extra, and seriously, why not go all in when your already wearing pink from head to toe? The perfect outfit for an event or when you need/want to dress up a bit.

Again matching a shade of green with orange. Two colours I never thought I would say I like, but how can I not? This outfit goes perfectly for a evening out, or if you switch out the heels with something more low key it works perfectly for a date night at the cinema!

As you can see you can easily use the same handbag again and again, styling it for a night out, a business event or for a day at the office. Whatever your day brings!

Celebrating love and diversity

There is nothing more beautiful than celebrating love, and yesterday The British Embassy had invited about 100 people to Mälarpaviljongen to do just that; celebrate diversity and love.

I am so proud to have a workplace that supports pride, and that it is a safe and inclusive place for everyone. Because unfortunately, people still experience hate crimes and discrimination based on their orientation, and even though we have come so far, we still have a long way to go. And that is why showing support for the Pride movement is so important. Because love is the most important thing <3

The dress code for the event was loud and proud so I jumped into my pink suit and added a little orange clutch. I wanted to have a white t-shirt with a rainbow underneath, but sadly didn’t find any. Still want that, so if anyone has any tips on where to find that, please let me know.

My task for the evening was to encourage people to take some pictures with the Embassy's selfie both and run around taking some snap shots. Take a look!

When your best friend gets engaged

I had just gotten home from a long walk with Johan and was impatiently waiting for my food to heat up, when my phone rang. I saw it was my bestie Lisa, who rarely calls so I got curious. I picked up and threw out something in line with: “ You got 59 seconds until my food is ready, so go”! Her reply was;

Henriette; I am engaged

I was confused. Engaged? What? Now? When? How? Then we started laughing of joy, then I cried a little. My best friend in the whole wide world is getting married. OMG! After getting the whole romantic story and sending her all my love through Face Time we hung up. And I just sat there, with my tears of joy calling my family to let them know our baby Lisa is now officially an adult (or, we will forever be young, wont we Lisa?)

Congratulations Cato, you get to spend the rest of you life with THE BEST GIRL in history<3 Aaaah, I am so full of love I don’t know what to do!

My week: Body positivity, watermelon obsession and chillin' like a villain

This week’s mantra
Befriend your body. Love it, and teach your mind to respect it.”.
Been spending a lot of time in bikini the last few days and I just came to a point where I didn’t wanna worry anymore. I wanted to enjoy my time in the sun and in the water, both alone, with Johan and friends. As always, trying to teach my mind to respect my body. This week it worked a little better than usual!

This week’s mood
Chillin' like a villain! Been reading, sleeping, listening to documentaries and swimming like crazy the last few days. A real summer weekend, and loved every moment of it. Safe to say my mood has been pretty damn good all week!

This week’s yumminess
I have gotten a huge obsession for watermelon with red onion and feta cheese. Seriously, try it!!! Found it on Instagram and it is the perfect food in the summer heat. Thinking of going 100% vegan from August though, so need to find something to replace the cheese with. Any tips?

This week’s series
The Handmaids Tale, 9-1-1 and the season finale of Big Little Lies. Trying to read more before bedtime though, but not going so well, haha!

This week’s training
I am not kidding when I say I only made it through leg day at the Workout Plan Studio before I skipped the remaining 4 workouts in favor of being outdoors, enjoying the hot weather. SATS will have to wait until the upcoming week! However, I at least managed to squeeze in two power walks at Djurgården and 1 hour kayaking.

This week’s failure
Kayaking with Johan. We gave it a try for the first time about five years ago while in the Caribbean and we couldn’t stop arguing. Well, turns out five years later we didn’t do any better. What the hell is there to argue about when you kayak you might think? Well, lots of things! How to paddle, in which directions, how to meet waves and so on. Well, as Johan said; We do a lot of fun stuff together, this isn’t one of them.

Foolproof ways to get the hang of color mixing

Ever look at your closet and think, "Wow, I only own black clothing!"? Well, you're not alone. Many people gravitate to black, white, and grey pieces, because they aren't exactly sure how to style a bunch of different colors. Because the big fashion world tells us mixing and matching colors will either make or break and outfit.

Pffft, who the hell came up with that rule?

I love the basic colors, but I also love red, pink, purple, green and yellow! I mix and match exactly as I see fit. Not for one second am I interested in someone handing me a colorwheel telling me what works with what. And you shouldn’t eiter.

Wanna start wearing the rainbow? Not stick to the plain old head-to-toe black? Well, start experimenting with new tones and colours, mix and match as you please. Because in my opinion;

As long as you love it, you will rock it!

And if the concept of mixing completely different colors is seriously freaking you out, start with one color, and really own it. Because I promise you, adding a little color to your wardrobe will seriously lift your mood!

Leopard print

Can we just take a second a talk about leopard print? Such a cool touch that will lift any outfit from dull to interesting. Like this skirt, seriously! It`s like putting on attitude. So damn powerful! Yes yes, I know, it is only a skirt. But hello, or mjau ;)

However, with leopard or animal print, I think my rule would be ‘less is more’. Matching it with colors like white, black or denim. Letting the print speak for itself.

When I see these pictures I dream of a pair of sandals I didn’t buy in Italy with leopard print. Kinda regret that now.

What do you think? Yey or ney?

When you can be active with friends

I hear the gravel crunch under my feet. We take quick steps, feeling the heat settle into the body. The sun is shining behind the trees. It's quiet, idyllic. I feel at home.

I don’t know how many times I have entered through that blue gate and walked around Djurgården during the last six years. Many, many times, and I never get tired of it. I love that place and walking is my favorite way of getting some free exercise in. And the best part is when friends wanna join. Like Charlotte yesterday. The perfect way to be social and catch up, all the while getting some exercise in and a big dose of fresh air.

Isn’t it beautiful?

Dinner in between flowers and plants

I love my job at VisitBritain and mostly because of the wonderful people I get to work with at the British Embassy. And tonight my favorite Johanna had invited me and Deniz over for a home cooked meal and some wine on her balcony!

Seriously, what would life be without good company, lovely food and warm weather? It was such a wonderful evening! Just sitting on her balcony, in her colourful oasis, in between flowers and plants, eating the best mushroom pie thingi and drinking wine. Jo is the best cook, and lets just say I offered her money in return for lunch every day at the embassy. So far it hasn’t worked, but not giving up!

Dear Johanna

Afterwards I met Johan half way and walked the rest home, which was nice after a little too much food. Now I am more than ready for bed, having started my day bright and early at The Workout Plan Studio, followed by work and dinner.

Add a little color to your life

I am a sucker for colorful suits and about 98% of the suits hanging in my closet are anything else but black or grey. Nothing says “good vibes” more than a pink or red suit and is the best recipe for brightening your day!

I remember showing up at the British Ambassadors residence in Oslo in a pink suit, while the whole crowd wore black and grey. But it didn’t make me feel uncomfortable, quite the opposite. I don’t know, colors just brightens my mood!

So when Felicia came with this beauty of a suit from Vero Moda I completely fell in love. Best part is; it is do comfortable it feels like I’m wearing a PJ. Win win!

What about you? Love colors or prefer the classics?

A little forced "me-time"

I am really not the kind of person that enjoys being alone, or who craves alone time. Not that I mind being alone, its just not something I need as much as others. I love having people around me, not necessarily interact so much, but just be in each others company. I remember how hard that was in the beginning of our relationship, because I couldn’t understand why Johan wanted to spend some time alone every once in a while. Haha, poor guy!

But now I do, so yesterday after we came home from our long walk and he wanted to just surf his computer for a while, I took my bike and headed out to my favorite spot on Djurgården. I plugged in my earphones, lied down on the pier, with the legs hanging down in the cold water, listening to a documentary while drifting in and out of sleep. And it was wonderful.

Today however, we are cleaning up the addict before heading to the gym, so no lazy alone time here! Just hard work ;)

When the sun is out

Oh boy, today my legs walked me pretty damn far!

Since we woke up to sunshine today, we decided to walk across the city to pick up little Dallas who is staying with us until tomorrow. And while we were out and about in the city centre we did some errands. After having walked around for about 3 hours in the sun, we decided to give Greasy Spoon a try, hoping to avoid queues. Luckily for us we got a table right away and I ordered my favorite buckwheat pancakes with blueberries, yummy! The perfect refill which made the last part home easy peasy.

I have such a hard time being indoors when the sun is finally shining, so I could walk forever, just to feel the sun on my skin #obsessed ! I so badly dream of a balcony in our next apartment, you have no idea! The upside of not having it is all the free exercise I get though! If we are to think positiv and all!
